Leave the Solent shoreline behind for a gentle two-hour stroll with your own alpaca at Itchen Valley Country Park, a short drive from Titchfield. From £32 per person.
Titchfield is a village with plenty of character, from its ruined abbey to the reedbeds of the Haven, but if you fancy a different sort of country walk, there is a rather fluffier option within easy reach. At Itchen Valley Country Park in West End, you can spend two hours leading your very own alpaca through meadows and along the river valley.
Most people from Titchfield and the surrounding Solent villages hop on the M27 heading east to west and are with us in roughly twenty-five minutes, traffic permitting. Our meeting point is Itchen Valley Country Park, Allington Lane, West End, Southampton, SO30 3HQ, and there is parking on site. Car-sharing with friends or neighbours makes for a sociable start to the day.
After a short welcome, an experienced handler introduces you to a halter-trained alpaca, shows you how to hold the lead, and explains how these gentle, curious animals behave. Then you set off together, walking at an easy pace for about two hours. Alpacas are calm and quiet, so conversation flows, and there is time to stop for photographs and the odd nose-to-face greeting.
We are a family-run business with sixteen years of experience, more than forty alpacas, and BAS registration, so the animals are well looked after and used to meeting new people.
Titchfield has a good mix of young families, retired couples and dog-walking regulars, and the walk suits all of them. Children aged 3 to 12 share a lead with an adult, those aged 12 to 16 lead with an adult present, and anyone 16 or over can walk independently. If you need a more accessible experience, our accessible walks run every Wednesday from April to October with free carer tickets.
Walks start from £32 per person, with family packages from £92 and baby alpaca walks from £54. An extra walker is £18, rescheduling insurance is £4.50, and gift vouchers are available if you are buying for someone else. Book online, or ring 0333 050 4012 if you would rather chat first.
