Alpaca walks on West End's doorstep: lead your own alpaca through Itchen Valley Country Park, just off Allington Lane. Family-run, from £32 per person.
If you live in West End, you may be closer to a herd of alpacas than you realise. Our walks start at Itchen Valley Country Park on Allington Lane, SO30 3HQ, which makes us a genuine neighbour: for many villagers it is a short drive, a bike ride or even a decent stroll away.
Each walk lasts about two hours. After a short briefing from your handler you are paired with a halter-trained alpaca and set off along the park's paths and meadows, leading your animal yourself. Nobody rushes. Alpacas amble, stop to graze and occasionally hum at one another, and you set the pace with them.
We are a family-run, BAS-registered business with 16 years of experience and more than 40 alpacas, so there is always a character to suit you, from the cheeky to the dignified.
Many people from the village tell us the same thing: they have driven past for years and never gone in. A walk with us is an easy way to enjoy the countryside on your own doorstep without a long journey, whether that is a quiet midweek morning or a weekend with visiting relatives who need entertaining.
It also works well as a gift. A voucher is a thoughtful alternative to another bottle or box of chocolates for neighbours, teachers and grandparents.
All ages are welcome. Children aged 3 to 12 share a lead with an adult, 12 to 16 year olds lead with an adult present, and anyone 16 or over can walk independently. We also run accessible walks every Wednesday from April to October, with free carer tickets.
Walks start from £32 per person, family packages from £92 and baby alpaca walks from £54. An extra walker is £18, and rescheduling insurance is £4.50. Book online or call 0333 050 4012 and we will happily help.
