Mark your anniversary with something genuinely different: a two-hour guided alpaca walk through Itchen Valley Country Park, near Southampton. From £32 per person.
Most anniversaries follow a familiar script: a table for two, a bunch of flowers, a card on the mantelpiece. If you and your partner would rather make a memory than book another reservation, a guided alpaca walk is a lovely alternative. You each lead your own alpaca on a soft rope through the meadows and woodland paths of Itchen Valley Country Park, West End, Southampton, with an experienced handler close by.
Alpacas are calm, curious and quietly funny. Walking beside one slows you both down, and there is very little to do except chat, laugh and notice the countryside. It is easy to take photographs together, and nobody needs any experience at all. Our alpacas are halter-trained, and your handler will show you exactly how to lead yours before you set off.
Because the walk lasts around two hours, it feels like a proper outing rather than a quick activity squeezed between other plans. Many couples pair it with lunch or an evening meal nearby, which turns a single date into a whole day.
Whether it is your first year together or your fortieth, the walk works the same way. Younger couples often enjoy the novelty; longer-married walkers tend to love the unhurried pace. If you are planning a surprise, a gift voucher lets you present the experience in a card, and the recipient can choose a date that suits them both.
Celebrating with family? Our family packages start from £92, and children aged 3 to 12 share a lead with an adult, so a wedding-anniversary outing can include the whole household.
Walks start from £32 per person. Extra walkers can be added for £18, and rescheduling insurance is £4.50 should plans change. Itchen Valley Country Park is about 15 minutes from Southampton, Winchester and Eastleigh, and is an easy drive from Portsmouth, Fareham, Romsey, Basingstoke and the New Forest.
We are a family-run, BAS-registered business with 16 years of experience and more than 40 alpacas. Read our anniversary alpaca walk ideas for tips on planning the day, or call 0333 050 4012 to talk it through.
